FIRESA Council is delighted to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chief Fire Officers Association. This is set to formalise our relationship and create a framework for progressing our mutual objectives.
DCLG published in March 2014 a report on a joint research project wth CFOA entitled Fire and Rescue Procurement Aggregation and Collaboration. FIRESA Council is currently in the process of consulting the FIA 's fire-fighting members on the proposals therein and will provide its written response shortly.
We are presently in talks with CFOA regarding a Memorandum of Understanding between our two organisations. The MoU will serve to provide a formal basis for working together on a number of key projects.
The CFOA Fire Fleet and Equipment Show will take place at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon over 15th and 16th July. Many of our members will be there and FIRESA Council is working with CFOA on the successful delivery of the event.

FIRESA Council enjoyed an excellent meeting at the premises of WL Gore in Edinburgh in November courtesy of Council Member Suzanne Prince. We were delighted to welcome several members of the Scottish FRS to the meeting before departing for a visit to the Edinburgh Airport Fire Training Facility.
FIRESA Council is pleased to announce the secondment of Simon Burnett-Boothroyd [A W Hainsworth] to Council to fill one of the vacancies that remain following the formal FIA Council elections in November.
The Emergency Services Show took place over 25th-26th September at Birmingham NEC with many of our members exhibiting. FIRESA co-sponsored a Drinks Reception held at close of show on Wednesday 25th which was extremely well-attended. Donations for sponsorship were received from all members of FIRESA Council, namely Antares, Ballyclare, Godiva, PBI, Plastisol, Primetech, Supply+, Vimpex and WL Gore.
On 2nd April 2013 FIRESA became integrated into the Fire Industry Association. The FIRESA Council Chairman, Derek Gotts, welcomes the integration, describing it as “a natural progression” for both parties. The FIRESA has now integrated with the Fire Industry Association to form the FIRESA Council for suppliers to the Fire and Rescue Services, representing the concerted industry voice across a spectrum of legislative, regulatory and standards issues affecting its members.
FIRESA Council already influences and participates in the decisions which affect the industry and its practitioners, forging a co- operative environment which benefits its members, their customers and ultimately the public.
To contribute positively to the growth and development of the Fire and Rescue Service market, thereby improving its effectiveness and playing an association role in protecting life, property and the environment.
To represent the concerted and professional industry voice of issues of common interest, linking suppliers with Fire and Rescue practitioners and other industry stakeholders and bringing benefits both to its members and to the customers they serve.
